We don't always need to understand why we are drawn to something. Attraction precedes understanding. And designing is sometimes just about seeking relief and following a physical craving.
This summer, my instinct pulled me toward the color blue. Perhaps it was a subconscious antidote to the long, hot days. I didn't question it. Working with natural chrysocolla discs and aquamarine feels like holding tiny fragments of the ocean. Knotting them onto silk thread, one by one, allowed me to capture that fluid, calming energy. The result is "right now blue." It isn't overthought. It simply fits. It feels right for this exact moment. A wearable breath of cool air.
ESSENTIAL RELATIONS 02
The work constructs a narrative space between two autonomous interior systems, each defined by boundaries and internal reflection. The central elements rotate—toward or past one another—shifting between alignment, delay, and passing without contact. A continuous red thread maintains connection independent of orientation, suggesting a relation that can hold two presences without requiring union. A restrained palette—red, blue, black, white, and translucent—reduces the work to essential relations, where color operates as structure rather than surface.

The Essential Relations series reflects on what relations are, what remains essential within them, and between whom these relations exist: mother and son, mother and daughter, lovers, friends, enemies. Rather than forming a fixed series, the works exist as individual pieces, shaped by the breadth and diversity of human connection and the different emotional states they carry.
