Field Note 03 — On meandering

Every collection begins differently.

Sometimes it starts from within: a feeling, an emotion or a memory I want to give a physical form.

Other times, it begins outside of us. A place, a natural phenomenon or a moment that changes the way we experience the world. I become curious about what it does to us—and how that experience might be translated into something we can wear.

Sometimes it begins with a question. Sometimes by simply letting my mind wander.

From there, I begin to experiment with materials.

Would colour carry the idea? Or would weight, texture, movement or resistance say more? Sometimes a material echoes an experience. Sometimes it reveals it through contrast.

This process is still evolving.

I enjoy getting to know different materials—learning how they behave, what they make me notice, and how they shape an experience. Each experiment teaches me something that may find its place in a future piece.

It is simply where my curiosity is leading me today.
